The citizens of Lawrence County are urged to mark Monday, May 28, Memorial Day, 6:00pm on the calendar, the day we pay tribute to all those that gave their lives serving our country. This year is especially a timely opportunity for all Freedom Loving Lawrence County Citizens to openly show support for our dedicated military personnel, past and present.

This year's featured speaker in Michael Jones, a 1996 graduate of the United States Military Academy. Here is an opportunity to get an in-person overview of the character of the men and women that volunteer to put their lives on the line to keep the rest of us leading normal lives in the safety they provide.

Jones served over 8 years in a variety of leadership positions as an Infantry officer in the United States Army in both the 1st Infantry Division and the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He served overseas in Bosnia in 1997, and then embarked on extended and violent tours in Afghanistan in 2002 and in Iraq during 2003 and 2004 as part of Operation Iraqi
Freedom.

His final assignment was as a Rifle Company Commander in the 101st Airborne fighting in Iraq where he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. At USMA he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Upon his return to Fort Campbell in 2004 he decided to return to his family roots and settle in Nashville. Mike worked as an analyst at Avondale Partners, a private investment bank in Nashville, specializing in capital raises and mergers and acquisitions from 2004 to 2005. While at Avondale he specialized in the food and restaurant, transportation and technology verticals.

At Avondale he also helped to establish the health care team for the company in 2005. Mike remained in the investment banking industry and worked for Harpeth Companies as a Vice President specializing in capital raises until 2008. Mike has over a decade of management
experience and developed significant sales and marketing experience in the investment banking industry as well.

Mike realized that most of the Soldiers he served with shared his experiences with combat stress. When he heard about Not Alone, he left the investment-banking world to pursue his first passion, helping warriors come home from war. Not Alone provides programs, resources and services to warriors and families impacted by combat stress and PTSD through a confidential and anonymous community.

Perhaps this Memorial Day will allow Lawrence County to set a record attendance at The City Administration Building by taking a couple of hours out of the day to remember all those fallen heroes that made the ultimate sacrifice. A small window of time to honor the largest thing in life, caring about others . . . . .

It just occurred to me... With all the noise the media is making about Romney's wealth, I don't recall such bluster and hand-wringing over the Kennedy fortune. Or, for that matter, John Kerry. Or the fact that John Kerry gave virtually nothing to charity while Romney  gave something on the order of $4 million...in addition to his entire inheritance from his father.

Oh. Wait. I just remembered. Romney is Republican. Kerry and the Kennedys are Democrats. Also, Romney worked for his money. Kennedy inherited his. And Kerry married it.
 
Main Stream Media's attitude; Never mind. Nothing to see here folks. Move along.

Mitt Romney you probably haven't known

Whether you like Romney or not, this story is very revealing. I hope the Republican Party
 is still the party of family values and character. Sometimes, this facet of Romney's personality
isn't so subtle.

In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, had disappeared.
She had attended a rave party in New York City and gotten high on ecstasy. 
 
Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was and Romney took immediate
action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York
to help find Gay's daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired
a private detective firm to assist with the search. 

He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through
his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in  New York, and asked them to help find his
friend's missing daughter. Romney's accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street
poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper.

Romney and the other Bain employees scoured every part of New York and talked with everyone they
could, prostitutes, drug addicts, anyone. That day,  their hunt made the evening news, which featured
photos of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. 

As a result, a teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up abruptly. The NYPD
traced the call to a home in New Jersey, where they found symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose.
Doctors later said the girl might not have survived another day. Romney's former partner credits Mitt
Romney with saving his daughter's life, saying, "It was the most amazing thing,  and I'll never forget this
to the day I die."

So, here's my epiphany: Mitt Romney simply can't help himself.  He seesa problem, and his mind
immediately sets to work solving it, sometimes consciously, and sometimes not-so-consciously. He
doesn't do it for self-aggrandizement, or for personal gain. He does it because that's just how he's wired.

Many people are unaware of the fact that when Romney was asked by his old employer, Bill Bain, to
come to rescue the firm from bankruptcy, Romney left Bain Capital to work at Bain & Company for an
annual salary of one dollar. 

When Romney went to the rescue of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, he accepted no salary for three
years, and wouldn't use an expense account.
 
He also accepted no salary as Governor of Massachusetts.

The only product the terrorist have is oil. We buy our oil from those countries that support and fund terrorism. Why? We have been offered a pipeline that will run from Canada all the way to Texas and those in charge of our Government say NO, also in our northern mid-west it is confirmed that there is more oil there than there is in the rest of the world; are we drilling? Why not? The off shore oil rigs are capped, why? Many of our refineries are closed down; wonder why? You would think that would open up some new jobs. We do not need to depend on oil from other countries. If we use our own, the word OPEC would be out of our language. Gas is expected to reach $ 5.00 per gallon in the U.S. by June, maybe even higher.

 
The reason that is given from DC is because of the threat from Iran to close off the Straits of Hormuz? Most of that crude goes to Europe anyway, but it will affect the world economy and us as well. We want to pay more for gas because of a threat from a country that is building a nuclear weapon and plans to attack Israel and the U.S.? If, in fact, they did close off the straits; if we do what we should, that problem could be solved from one of our U.S. Carriers that are "hanging around" that area. In just a few hours, and while we are that close . . . well, why not just stop the ongoing assembly of all their nuclear weapons? We will have to soon anyway or we could wait and find out the obvious, the purpose of building them.

Think, "What was that bright light"? We need to seek the truth in our own government, someone is not telling the truth. . It is our responsibility now, we are still sleeping and believing everything we are told. Every day we are told things that are totally untrue (a lie) or if you insist on being "Politically Correct". . . not verifiable, not a fact, incorrect, pipe dream etc.

 
There are some who wish to move our country to Socialism; NOT GOOD! For instance, in Greece gas is $10.00 per gallon, I don't think we want to pay that. Right now we are paying 4 Billion a week on the National Debt and that's just on the interest. By 2020 it is expected to reach 9 Billion a week, on the interest alone. Think about that and tell yourself where that is headed. Now there are 4 million people out of work, unemployed since 2008, these are college educated who have put in for unemployment and are on food stamps and have already , lost their homes, their cars, taken their kids out of college, and now the unemployment checks have stopped. Some of these have worked for 30 years in the corporate world, no one is immune.

If you have noticed in job ads, many will say, IF YOU ARE NOT EMPLOYED, DO NOT APPLY? They want NEW people. The White House said today we need to go out and look for alternative fuel; well we may have to walk to look for it. Gas is scheduled to go up .60 cents locally and that will be soon, closing in fast on $ 5.00 per gallon. This country is not stable and the budget is NOT balanced.

 
Some government reasons besides the threat from Iran, say we have to raise the gas prices to cut down on usage . . . does that make any sense at all? Then we can raise food prices more than they are so we will use less food, is that call "The National Diet"?

Everyone needs to vote, especially the young people, because the way things stand right now, the government is about to dump a load of DEBT on your shoulders, and if you think things are tough now, do some research, read, listen, compare, use your common sense; if you don't have any, make friends with someone who does. You do not want to lose what you were born with, and if you don't realize what that is, read the Constitution of the United States . . . twice.

A 200 Year Oil Reserve in Alaska. . . .

The enclosed information, photos and maps, came from a direct connection of a daughter and her spouse living in Alaska. It just so happens the son in law is a Foreman in the oil fields of Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge(ANWR)
 
The daughter and son-in-law visited L. A. from their home in Anchorage. He is a foreman in the oil fields at ANWR. He has to fly his own plane to get to the job where he spends months at a time in the most God forsaken place this side of Siberia .

He confirmed everything that is in this story, and brought dozens of pictures for proof. Our environmentalist friends have forced gas prices up to an impossible rate, forcing us to buy oil from our enemies, for whatever reason that simply isn't true.

There is enough oil in AMWR to supply the US at our present rate of usage for more than 200 years. The space that ANWR occupies in Alaska is equivalent to a postage stamp in the Mojave Desert . 

A new pipeline across Alaska isn't required since the location for drilling in ANWR is about 160 miles from the North Slope Prudhoe Bay pipeline where it would be connected. 

Second the wildlife love the pipeline since it is heated and provides a shelter during the worst times during the winter.

Maybe another question should be asked. FIRST do you know what ANWR is? ANSWER: Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Alaska is a huge place, our largest United State by far.  To folllow the logic of how drilling for oil in The ANWR would impact the area space-wise, we need to consider the drilling area compared to The ANWR alone is like one drop of water in a FIVE GALLON BUCKET.  Compared to the whole state of Alaska, the drilling area would be like one drop of water in an Olympic Size swimming pool.  Obviously The United States Congress is too stupid to ever see anything in perspective.  Here's a perspective for taxpayers; how much of the National Debt would have been avoided over the past several years of endless congressional debate by having oil from ANWR offsetting the money going to Arab nations?  It is more than stupid, it is criminal.

The small black square on the above map covers the entire area that drilling in the ANWR would impact.  Environmentalist Wackos have created influence politically using outrageous propaganda disguised as concern for Alaskan Wildlife.  Can anyone look at the little black square and come away with such claims with a straight face?  Only in The U.S. Congress I suppose. 
 
The next three photos below will separate reality from creative lobbying in Washington, D.C.   The photos are honestly showing the awesome beauty of Alaska, and YES, ANWR.   But, these areas are nowhere near the small black square.  Environmentalists will stoop to any level, there's no bottom low enough to accomplish their foolish missions.

Alaska's Wilderness is protected primarily by Alaskans.  They love their great state and would be foolish to damage the beauty in any way.
